Fingerjigger is a typing game that helps you to improve your keyboarding skills. You're scored on how quickly and accurately you can type.
There are a few factors:
If you want to get a high score you should try to type both quickly and accurately. Don't sacrifice one for the other - they're both important!
I would recommend the latest version of Google Chrome - this is the web browser I use when developing the game. Firefox, Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer 11 should also work. If you use an older browser, or one that I haven't mentioned, then I can't guarantee that the game will work properly. Sorry!
Sort of - Fingerjigger does work on iPads but not as well as it does on desktops. This is because web browsers on tablets tend to be less advanced, and the tablet itself may be less powerful. Feel free to give a tablet a go but for the best experience I'd recommend using a laptop or desktop computer, and the Chrome web browser.
Yes, but it's not a formal typing test so it's hopefully more fun. It's harder to build up momentum when typing one word at a time, so you may find this makes you a little slower than usual. You won't be typing exactly the same words as someone else who plays the game, but the words will be similar. At the end of the day it's a game so try to enjoy playing it.
I've combed through the dictionaries to remove any questionable words. Names on the score boards are filtered but there are limits to what the filtering can do.
Fingerjigger is written in JavaScript with a Node.js back-end. A long time ago there was a predecessor that was written in ActionScript 2.0 with a PHP back-end. That was back in the days when Flash was still a viable technology.
Fingerjigger was created and programmed by Jonathan Miles. It was brought to you by the letter "f" and the colour orange.
